what is this garbage? im typing this from school right now, since i have an hour of "free time" i got done with the 10th grade wasl early so whoopie :rotfl: .

im surprised im even able to reach this forum. but seriously what is websense? it obviously searches in the url address bar for blaclisted phrases, words, and so on... is it hardware based? or *gasp* some devil isp?

and is there some way to bypass it? hypothetically of course sees how i dont wish my internet to get revoked while im at school :nope: . i' thinking some thing to do with typing a url, and somehow specifying a port??? something along those lines... perhaps prt 80 or 8080 or something.

any ideas, massively appreciated

peace

Ah, so you came here as a tenth grader to see if we would help you get around the school"s rules and restrictions?

I look forward to your response.

Theres a way around it. Not what your thinking though.

But seeing as how we tend to help the guys that setup the systems, we dont help people break through the systems.

If you are really interested and resourceful, the info is out there! ;)

i'm always interested in what exactly is blocking me from doing something that I want to do. (not that i actually want to do it, if that makes sense)

just like the school thinks they're so keen because they have deep freeze in all the computers, but all you have to do is hold down shift and click the icon in the taskbar twice, and type in their Oh-So secret password....

my friend claims that he typed in a ip address that got around websense, and he actually did get banned from the school computers for an entire year. of course, not being an idiot like him and actually trying this out, i just wanted to know exactly how it works.

something tells me it's hardware, by how it feels and responds to queries. it used to be that all you had to do was to go to google.com translator, and translate the page you wanted to view from "english" to "english" using a modified URL and seeing how that leaked out so quick, our techies were all too keen to block that.

i'm not quite simpleton enough to try what I know, because i have my computer at home which i happen to be on at this moment, and my own internet Which i PAY for to do anything i want blah blah blah.

Please don't take it how it seemed, i realize that it could be viewed as irresponsible blah blah blah to anyone who would tell me anything.

i'll simply have to accept my disgusting restrictions while i'm at school, and just be like everyone else...and get blocked. :)

peace to you all,
~Cameron

P.S. to Kip Patterson:

you are the coolest of everyone here :D

There's one way to do it, and if IPs are blocked theres an even more "hardcore" way to do it. But you can still get caught.

Its done at the firewall which is a hardware device, but its set in the software of it :p

jeeze, seems complicated, my friend got caught because the idot was typing stuff in the address bar, and the librarian walked behind him and happened to glance at what he was typing. what a dummy. :rotfl:

seems too hard for it to even be worth it. :o

but at least thereIS a way to do it which makes me happy. stupid tech guys in our district think they're hot crap.

there's actually a secret they don't know about:

there is a "glitch" if you will; all the computers in our school district have some crap on them where the teacher can hit a button, and view active snapshots of all the screens in the lab at once, you know what i'm talking about, the icon for the program is in the task bar...

but me and my friend figured out that if you open microsoft word, type some garbage, then push the power key on the keyboard, a box will pop up, asking if you want to save, you click "cancel" then if you move your cursor over the taskbar, all the icons dissappear. :rotfl: :rotfl: HAHAHAH!!!! MUAHAHA!

so it's like you're telling the computer to shutdown, but microsoft word does something similar to the "shutdown -a" command to stop the computer from fully shutting down, but in fact, it does close all running processes except for like some of the svchosts and explorer of course.

imagine our excitement when we discovered that. ;)

o well,

power to the people and peace
