plz help to speed up my internet connection

Post by girish »

hi,

i am using ADSL router of 256kbps.(nearly 32KB/s).
but when i want to download something it gives me only 8KB/s to 15KB/s and sometimes below 5KB/s
and i am using windows Xp professional SP2

my results with TCP/IP analyzer is

TCP options string = 0204058601010402
MTU = 1454
MTU sometimes used in PPPoA applications. If not, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1414
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1414, which equals MSS.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 16968
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 16968

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
520352 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
260176 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
130088 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
65044 (MSS x 46)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 678.72 kbps (84.84 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 271.488 kbps (33.936 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 121 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

plz help me to tweak my speed.thanks in advance
i have new TCP optimizer,what settings i have to do. :confused:

YOur mtu is off try thease and take another analyzer test

Try thease in the sg optmizer below me to download and install

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU 1500
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window -blank
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - checked
Timestamps - uncheck
Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 5
Host Priority - 6
DNSPriority - 7
NetbtPriority - 8
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 240
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect
VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. For a stand alone pc all you need is Internet Protocol TCP/IP.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer and set your duplex mode to "auto". If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clean out your temporary internet files with CrapCleaner.
5. Power cycle your modem i.e. unplug it for at least 15 seconds.
6. Download, update and scan with SpyBot S&D 1.4 EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE & Ad-Aware SE 1.06 EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster 3.4 to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES. If these 2 programs find a lot of things then please post a HijackThis 1.99.1 log for us to look at.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in our Help & Tips page.
8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it and search your pc for the left over files.
9. Install Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5, it's FREE and uses next to no resources.
10. Do a FREE online virus scan from Kaspersky Webscan, make sure to check the option to use the EXTENDED DATABASE.
11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.
8) ;D

and also have registry repair pro v3.
and my default browser is mozilla firefox 1.5.0.4
and i have latest windows updates.
i have four protocol
1)client for microsoft network
2)file and printer sharing for microsoft network

should i uninstalle all (1)(2) and (3) protocol?
is this is enough information.

my new anlyzer test is

TCP options string = 020405860103030e01010402
MTU = 1454
MTU sometimes used in PPPoA applications. If not, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1414
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1414, which equals MSS.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 1073725440
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 14 bits (scale factor of 28)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65535

RWIN seems to be an excessively large number. If you're on a line lower than 20 Mbps (that is not satellite), consider using a smaller value.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Your TCP Window limits you to: 42949017.6 kbps (5368627.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 17179607.04 kbps (2147450.88 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 57 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 11110000 (240)
Precedence (priority) = 111 (Network Control)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)
Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DiffServ (RFC 2474) = No valid DiffServ equivalent. See the TCP Optimizer documentation, or RFCs 2474, 2475, 2597, 2598, 2873.

you have to login into rotuer make sure mtu is enabled and set to 1492 and in the port forwarding secetion makes sure upnp is enabled as well it sounds like you don't have the ports mapped for that program. i'm nto sure off hand what ports that program uses i'll try to find out asap.

my new TCP analyzer is this but speed is still slow.

when i use utorrent for download i get 0KB/s to 3KB/s.
what should i do?
reply soon.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

When you use P2P softwares, be sure to set a limit to your upload speed in such softwares to within 35-40% of your subscribed speed.

This will allow spare upload bandwidth for your downloads to send out receipt acknowledgements.

eg. your subscribed speeds are 256/64 kbps for dn/up. Limit your upload speed in utorrent's setting to 25-26 kbps or 3 KB/s.

for " torrents " u have to " port forwarding " in your router 2 or 3 ports. i dont remember the ports but u can ask in such forums.
