Computer help please ((format problems))

hello.

i am formatting this pc i got from a friend, the format goes very well but when it hits copying files and it completes at 100% it goes back to the format screen for windows xp at home version. i have tryed 3 Different drives and the same deal. will go back to the format setup screen. what could be wrong? in the bio's? m/b settings?

hard drive western digital 80 gig.
win xp home version
asus m/b

any help would be Appreciated thanks.

I'm guessing you have the CDrom drive set as default #1 for first boot from IE..

after you load windows and it reboots enter the BIOS and reset the boot order to HD first.
