Opinion on this laptop

My brother (upon my suggestion) just purchased a dell 9300 nicely equipted for $1050.

The laptop will replace an aging desktop. It will be used for web browsing, excel spreadsheets, MS word, powerpoint (wife is in college), music downloads, burning music to CD, photo shop of digital photos taken of the kids/family. We're currently not gamers since the kids are into xbox and playstation currently. That's a pretty solid list. Thanks again zooner for your feedback.

I like what you picked, but I'd never buy a LCD or laptop from newegg. This is coming from someone that has spent over 11k there.

For me, a single dead pixel is too much on a $1000 laptop.

you mention space as the problem. Do you intend to travel with this or do you just want more room on your desk?

I'd suggest the 9300, or browse around the sagers.

the 17" screen is priceless. (it's what I'm running)

I've recently been playing with the same laptop except with a different screen from NewEgg at work.. Same hardware other than that.

It's pretty quick. Like said, if you plan on playing games, it really isn't for you, but it's pretty quick in all other aps (office programs, photoshop was pretty smooth, so on so fourth). Battery life is pretty good, WLAN is good. They're definitely not small laptops, but I like'em.
