What are the optimal settigs

Post by yurka »

I have the following settings: MTU 1500, RWIN 8760, TTL 32, Blachhole 0, Discovery 1 .
Should I do anything?
Do these settings be different in: different Windows (I have Millennium), different CPU, differen modem, USB interface vs. NIC, another ISP or if my ISP changes anything?

The least you could do is increase your RWIN value...

use this formula:

(RWIN*8)/latency = your max possible throughput in kilobits.

where: latency = RTT in milliseconds = ping . You should use the maximum anticipated latency.
