Products Containing Aspartame!

Post by Prey521 »

Hey,

I was wondering if there is a site that lists all the products that contain aspartame. I've vowed to try and avoid anything that contains it. It's amazing that the FDA keeps this thing on the market. I was reading about the side effects of it, and it is downright scary! You're better off drinking/eating the regular stuff versus a diet/light version that contains aspartame!

TIA!

Yup, and I've just come to realize this! I drink the Splenda version of diet coke, not the regular diet coke.

Yeah, but Splenda won't poke holes in your brain like Aspartame. I've also heard of Stevia, which they say is the recommend sweetener, since it is natural and contains no side effects. I've never seen that at the supermarket though.

If there is no reason why you cannot eat real sugar, you'd be a fool to consume all these artificial sweeteners, especially Aspartame.

I have a friend who swears he lost two in his family due to brain problems from the consumption of this compound. I won't touch it.

Well, diabetes runs in my family as well as my wifes, so we're trying to avoid sugar as much as possible. My dad just drinks water now and certain juices, no more soda of any kind.

In all seriousness....have to look at it from a bigger view.

Do you really need soda? All our body needs is water. But say you want soda..it still IMO better to have a diet soda once a day then a regular with tons of refined sugar.

I eat and drink several products that have several artifical sweeteners, but I watch it in moderation. I wont go crazy. My diet mostly depends on healthy whole grain foods and get most of my sugar from fruits.

Aside from sugar, and artificial sweeteners, you wouldnt believe half the garbage they put in our food.

In 44 years I have never known to be allergic to anything, but I swear Aspertame gives me the shakes and tastes horrid! I don't drink soda, but once every 2-3 months and I won't touch that crap.

The simple statement of "nutrasweet" seemed to indicate more of you offering an alternative to aspartame; otherwise, no other context makes sense. Not to mention that the tongue-out smilie does not reflect "irony" in any way.

As I had understood it, one of the metabolytes of aspartame is methanol.

Stevia has a rough aftertaste and does not work well in hot beverages.

Sugar alcohols are ok if you do not have digestion issues, as flatulence can be a problem.

Does anybody have a link to a credible site with facts on the safety of aspartame? TIA

all i drink is diet pop and diet tea....usually 3 cans per day on average. Thank goodness I haven't noticed any problems....or maybe I've just overlooked the symptoms...
I've got 2 twelve packs of Fresca....that probably has aspartame....haven't noticed any weird things after drinking about 10 cans so far over a 3 day period.

right now drinking Diet nestea....with Splenda...tastes horrible...I thought it would be a diet version of the great tasting Nestea Cool....but it's not.

I try to follow the "moderation in all things" credo, but haven't been following very well lately. Seems like everything can hurt you now....

You should just look for sites of products that don't have sites?

Cause, Cuzz, the products that have sites, might list or might not list the

ASPertame...?

and that might be where your fight is?

Lots of water... A soda every other day or so, always the real stuff. I don't see what the big deal is, a little exercise more than takes care of anything I eat. :)

Though I concur that aspartame is unhealthy, a great deal of what is presented on that link is junk science or irrelevent. Working in the health food field (EDIT>>> oops left out a word<<) when aspartame hit the shelves, I well remember that methanol was a product of digestion. Searle cried tears of money to the FDA, it somehow passed.

you call it junk science, and that's ok. I call it truth. Methanol is wood alcohol.(it fries your brain!)
You are thinking of methane gas.? or blowing it?
