Watercooling questions
How long does a watercooling radiator last in terms of months/years, used in the average computer setup with 15% antifreeze (water wetter specifically) 85% distilled water?
If the water is showing an ever-so-slightly shade of brown, that is ofcourse metal oxidation (rust) right? it couldn't be anything else?
i edited out the radiator question, i found a new one.
Also, does anyone have recommendations for ATI X800 Pro GPU waterblocks?
Any recommendations for a better water cooling mixture that will make it less corrosive and thereby easier to maintain?
And finally, i've been debating changing from the plastic hosing to copper plumbing pipes for my watercooled tower, what are the pluses and negatives of trying to do this? I've seen it done before and know for a fact it works.
Thanks guys. -brian

i think it's very safe to say:
-noone knows anything about watercooling here.
-that someone over at [H]ardOCP or any other true 'speed-related.net' site would be preferable to speed guide.net when asking questions about watercooling
-the watercooling forum thread needs to be removed due to uselessness if it cannot satisfy simple questions

Ya gotta give people time to read the threads lol
I'd say get the pre-made up mixtures you can buy them anywhere. They are made to extend the life of the radiator, hoses and blocks. Also flush the radiator about once a year.. can do this under a sink sometimes or at your water hose outside.
and Stay away from the copper tubing idea...it conducts electricity and heat. Stick with the hoses. After all the companies that made these kits wouldn't have put plastic instead of copper if they didn't know this already.

Most kits are pretty crappy. Mixing copper and aluminum tho isnt a good Idea.
Some really GREAT info over here:

As far as your mixture goes, WW has a slightly reddish tinge to it.
but I'd change it out amybe ever 6-8 months.
1 bottle will hold ya over for 3-4 water changes anyway.

thanks guys i appreciate it. i asked a plumber who said the copper tubing shouldn't corrode even with that mild anti-freeze mix but i hadn't considered the electrical conductivity of the metal itself. probably would speed up the oxidation process of the waterblocks i'm sure.
i purchased the black ice II block which i have to say is pretty awesome. the flow rate between that one and my 3/8th's bottleneck simply do not compare, so i'm pleased with that.
yardofstuff i normally take an alternative source of cooling to air as a given when overclocking such as phase change, peltier discs, or WC
As for Ghost and massa - baiting people is perhaps one of the most simple things you could do to get a reaction. you both walked all too willingly straight into it, sheesh
try to not get all bent out of shape over it, it was nothing personal. it has just been my experience to *maybe* squeeze 2 or 3 responses out of the forums in about a the same number of months so i thought i'd try to provoke an "oh yeah? well here's what i know..." type of response. of sorts, it worked.
my most sincere thanks and apologies for those i may had disrespected/offended.
