$5 for a head of lettuce. Let them pick our food and work for less than minimum wage while the white land owners get away without paying workers comp or payroll taxes, just don't let them live here... right. You racist SOB's are pathetic. Lets see your lazy A$$es get out and pick produce when it is 100 degrees for $6 dollars an hour. :irate:
God damn...6 bucks an hour...? last I knew it was 5 cents a unit (one unit being a bag, box, bucket, or whatever the veggies or fruit are stored in) it usually comes to about 5 bucks a week, if they're lucky enough to get apples, it could be 10 bucks a week.

As for my most hated, it would have to be the uninformed who propagate disinformation

I've been thinking about the original question.

My answer to "What is the worst thing in America"

Mental laziness. Not indifference, or apathy, but a cultivated laziness and desire to avoid critical thinking. How much easier it is to let O'Reilly or Franken do your thinking for you. Or Snoop Dogg. How much simpler to form beliefs on soundbites and five second images and music videos. How sweetly seductive that drug.

And how our media loves to give that to us. How we lap it all up and greedily ask for more. I don't want to know what motivates a man to kill his pregnant wife. I don't want to know his thoughts. I want to see the aerial footage as they pull her bloated body from the bay.. and is that the baby hanging out of her stomache? Eww! Let me capture that on TiVO and put it up on Ogrish.com. I don't want to think about how abortion might lower the crime rate, or how a child is more likely to die in your neighbors pool than by a firearm.. Think of The Children!

Keep it simple, keep it easy, and for gods sake, lets us not make ANY hard decisions about ANYTHING.

That, is the worst thing about America. We have no Benjamin Franklins. We have no Thomas Paines. We have no Jeffersons, or Lincolns.

And we like it that way.

Sarahnn wrote:The basis for my concern over abortion is that life is so precious that life and death decisions should not be in the hands of just anyone, nor in the hands of the government. They say that necessity is the mother of invention. However, we have not found it necessary to find a place for unwanted fetuses because of our present abortion-mill mentality and therefore, nothing will save them. While I do not believe in government interference, like sheep who have come to rely on the shepherd of unwanted pregnant women we follow them like the pied piper into the abortionists hands.
Abortion and capital punishment are those two paradoxes of the right and the left. The present right will cry strains of reducing government interference in personal lives, yet usurp a women's personal choice regarding her body. Those on the left seek justice, yet will not take that measure against a vicious murderer. I will not seek to change your opinion on the value of fetal life nor your perspective on abortionists. I will ask you to consider as future reference, look at the way ad execs pull the sheep into purchasing products that do them harm. Would you equate "abortionists" to those of big tobacco?

Sarahnn wrote:Why is meth such a problem? Is it because people die? Maybe, like fetuses, it is not the worse thing that can happen if their lifestyle causes so much destruction to themselves and society.
It is incorrect to compare the unborn to the living. Simply put, I would be saddened if my wife were to miscarry, I would be absolutely devastated if Olivia or Joshua where to die.

It is the manner in which meth takes over entire communities which makes it a problem. I am sorry to disagree, but preventing a birth cannot have similar impact. Understand, I sincerely believe that drugs are problem, but we as a nation do have other greater issues.

Bronco touched on it briefly. It is how we all blythly look at criminal behavior. How can we be a nation who are govern by laws, ignore transgressions? Why are illegal immigrants able to find work if it unpermitted to hire them? Why are politicians allowed to take bribes to alter policy? Why do we accept graft as being a part of doing business? Perhaps it is as other have said, apathy. It is the unwillingness of good people to step up. Maybe it is guilt in knowing that deep inside, if we were so empowered, would act unlawfully as well. Justification can do that to a person.

I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

First off, it is the public's attention which is a problem. Ask yourself, how different is a "sound bite" from a talking head than a powerful quotation from a Thomas Paine? The similarity is in brevity and persuasiveness.

I concur that a Roman level seduction to Bread and Circuses exists in our media.

Do we have Jeffersons or Paines or Franklins, yes. However, such men are made by their situations, like a wartime general. Be assured that America's taste for the base, someone will seek to repudiate their character in order squelch their message.

Trini, that's what I meant in my post...people who look at the surface only, they see one action but ignore the actions that go on behind the scenes.

I've known people that worked in autoshops and used their employee discounts to get high priced rims at a fraction of their retail price, same with cars.

Baught at auction, again for a fraction of the MSRP

You must spread some Negative Reputation around before giving it to triniwasp again.

Okay heres my view...Ive gone and still go to schools that are predominantly black and are in or near the "ghetto". I see people walk into school with an $100 dollar pair of shoes, $50 pants, nice brand name winter coat and shirt, brand new team fitted hat and alot more bills in their wallet than I keep in mine. But somehow they cant afford their school supplies and need food stamps/welfare to carry on with life. You could say this is a problem with the welfare system, with the people, or with the general lazyness of the American people. Any way you see it, theres a problem there.

Racism? :rotfl: Chances are Im friends with more black guys/girls than youve ever met long enough to shake hands with. Dont try to slap a southern redneck or racist label on me because I have a different view than you. So go ahead, save your breath on him....use it on me. Why am I wrong and in what way am I racist ;)

Edit for Cisco-Okay, so theres discounts involved everyone wants to get a good buy. This doesnt change the fact that they are receiving food stamps. You could get a cheaper car with the same discount and NOT use food stamps. Keep more of the money YOU make to feed and shelter your family instead of buying that hot car, blingin rims, and pimpin shoes.

Go eat your mashed potatos, sit down, watch TV and stfu, cause nothings gonna change. :D

We'll I sum it this way, their we're atrocities on both sides, native and American\colonist. Their was a war. the Natives lost. Anyone who studies history knows that the winning nation usually takes the losers land. The Brits werent so nice to us. It was the name of the game then. Not saying its right, just saying its how things where. So to blame the Americans for winning a war and taking land is just silly. LOL I like your picture though, its funny.

There isn't anything funny about the plight of the Native American people. Ace as far as poor people wearing name brand clothing, have you seen their receipts? Just cause it looks new doesn't mean they didn't get it at Ross or at the swap. Even if they didn't what's wrong with trying to maintain dignity in the face of economic oppression?

Using the welfare system as a crutch when you could just as easily not use it and work harder to earn your keep. It puts a drain on the Gov't to pay out since youve spent your money on things that are wants and not needs.
