Can't connect wx client to wx router
Hello all. I've pulled most of my hair out on this one, so I figured I'd give this a try before pulling the rest out. I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router which has three ports wired over Cat 5 and works just fine. I have one wireless laptop that I'm trying to get to connect. I have gone through two levels of tech support at Linksys and they insure me the router is broadcasting the SSID, which I have verified. When I fire up the laptop running Win XP, the SSID broadcast is received and identified as well as the level of security, which is open at the moment. I can ping the wireless adapter which is an Atheros 5001X+ (integrated) at 127.0.0.1. I cannot ping the router, nor will the laptop connect to the router. As I mentioned, I'm using open access with no security at the moment, due to the laptop being the only wireless device in the area. Any assistance would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks in advance... Oh yeah, the same laptop works using the wired Ethernet adapter...

Toshi laptop? I've had a bear of a time working with that Atheros wireless chipset, don't like it...don't like it...don't like it. Other wireless forums are filled with issues over it.
Does the lappy have XP service pack 2 installed? Try using the built in Windows wireless configuration instead of the Atheros utility.
Last ditch, disable the onboard Atheros, and try a different wireless NIC.

Hey Stoner, long time no see. You've helped me many times in the past. Yes it is a Toshi, my wife's, cause I'd never buy one. Anyway, XP SP2 is installed and I used Windows Wx setup. You're right about the Atheros. PUre garbage. Even their web site is a joke. Looks like it's time for a Linksys 802.11g adapter. Thanks bud...
