Can't dl videos with Firefox and other questions
I try clicking on a link for a video and I get a page that looks like a bunch of code. Is there some simple setting I am missing?
Also when I try and download "missing plug-ins" it never works.
WHile I am at it, there was a couple of features from Avant Browser that I liked that I am wondering if I can get on FF. One of them is having it save all the pages I was looking at when I close it. That way I can turn off my computer and still have all the pages I was last looking at open up when I turn the computer back on and open the browser. Along the same thing Avant also had a feature for making a bunch of webpages into "groups". Rather than entering each page into Bookmarks individually I could just click "creat new group" and it would take all the pages and form them into sort of a favorites folder. I could then go open the group andall the pages would open back up.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I was trying Spammys SNL skit.
I did just figure out it might have something to do with me not allowing FF to access the net once Iam logged on. It is almost always trying to connect to adserver.adknowledge so I automatically tell Sygate to not allow FF to access the net. It happens pretty quickly, so most of my sufing time I have it disabled.
For just surfing I think FF goes through Avast, so Sygate allows me to surf through Avast even though it is with FF. It is once I am using FF and ask it to do anything that it might be blocked
This is a silly question, but how do I block adsvr.adknowledge.com with FF? If I could block that from the get go then I would not have to worry about telling Sygate to not allow FF access
Thanks for the help MM

You still have to manually go in and enter each site your looking at. I was looking for something that you could just hit Groups-Select all-name____HT2791 wrote:you can set groups in booksmarks
just go to Bookmarks>manage bookmarks
But thanks for the suggestion HT2791, and if I am missing something obvious let me know please
For not allowing it to access the internet(adsvr.adknowledge.com):
If you're using WinXP:
Open MyComputer and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc, open the 'Hosts' file in notepad.exe and then in a newline add this:
Make sure to add two-spaces between there.
This will make it so when it goes to that webaddress, it will go to the IP '127.0.0.1' which is the computer accessing that page, and in this case, your's.
For anything below WinXP, click Start > then 'Search' and type all files or something of that sort and search for 'Hosts'. You should find the file and just follow the steps above.

or just right click ..save as then open

One thing about that is it will not tell me the size of the file I am about to dl. Being on dial up, it is just not worth downloading most video files. If they are above3MB I almost always forget about watching it. Thanks Izzo
Zaronit- I did not find a "Hosts" file under drivers. Is there something else it is under in between drivers and hosts? After rereading it I will try the search function and go about it that way.
Thank you for the help
