Post by mmione »

Well I am going to buy MS Visual Basic because I am taking a course next year and I want to go into the course knowing some basic things, can someone point me in the direction of some tutorials to create just little programs? Thanks in advance.

Well there are lots of learn as you go books like SAMS, Microsoft Press, O'reilly ect.. The newest version is now called Visual Studio.Net if that helps with your search. About every Book I've seen give you more and more complex stuff to compile as you progress. Some have more sample code than others.

What I did was just go to library (Suprisingly they had a bunch of VB books) checked out some and bought the one I ended up using at the bookstore. Microsoft Press' book btw.

My mom's friend gave her Visual Studio 6, she forgot it at work and I was wondering if this is Visual Basic? And is it relatively new?

Visual Studio 6 includes Visual Basic 6. It's NOT new, and as a matter of fact you don't get access to any of the .net stuff, nor is the C++ STL (Visual C++ 6 is on that CD too) up to date.

Visual Studio 6 is about 6-8 years old, if I remember correctly.
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

Yep, or download the Visual Basic Express 2005 VB compiler.
