usb hd enclosure

OK i have a usb hd enclosure running window xp pro it said no drivers need windows will already have them well it worked once and every scents then i get a unknown devise i cannt seem to fig out how to tell window that its a mas storage device i know the hard drive is still good i hooked it up to another comp with out the usb enclosure so the prob is from the enclosure or windows not wanting to recognize the devise any ideas

I'm going to guess...

Make sure you have all available updates, which you should if you're running sp2.

Is the HD empty? (non-formatted)

the enclosure is probably junked out......try it on another machine ....and in a couple different usb ports.....and try a different usb cable

its been my experience with these ext enclosures that they are truly plug and play.....i havent had to mess with drivers to get one working except for with win98.

i use ext enclosures all the time for data transfers.

i like the enermax enclosures.

last post is assuming you have the drive installed in the enclosure correctly.

sorry took so long to get back yes the drive worked fine for a couple weeks then just stopped so i took the hd out to make sure it worked so i put it in a diff comp and it worked so i went back to the enclosure but never got ti to be recognized
