this is the 4th time im posting in here about
the same problem that im having with my cable connection. my prob is simple.
DISCONNECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. it seems like
theres a lot of people who had or having the
similar problem.
this is my details
isp: at&t roadrunner
rca cable modem
d-link 530tx+ ethernet card
windowsME
whem i surf, play online games, or downloads, it goes well about 3or 4hours and
it stops. and if i renew the winipcfg, well
it starts to work and all of sudden it lose
the connection again. and after like 30to 40
mins it comes back to normal and restore the
connection. the disconnection happens randomly. it happens every single day about
3or 4time usually, sometimes more than that.
I got the modem about 3 weeks ago. for first
3days it worked fine.
these r what i tryed to get back connection
1.renewing winipcfg : only works for short time, doesnt really work
2.unplug and repluging the ac power
3.reinstalling windowME
4.calling at&t about 3times a day
5.reinstalling nic
6.reinstalling protocol setting
7.registry tweaking
8.keeping the modem on all day for 3day now
(before that i used to turn the modem off
when i dont use it, but it didnt matter)
9.uninstalling blackICE
(one time i called att and told them that
i have blackICE and they told me to
uninstall it but it still lose the
connection)
but oviously none of really works. i cant get
continous connection. if anyone has any clue
or have the same kind of problem please reply

make any difference, and they wont even have
let me have a new ip address
did it really work for u? and did they just
let u have a new ip that easily? and what cable isp u using?
if it did work, im gonna call those idiots again and force them to change it

sieZe it could be a random spike in your s/n, transmit, time of day, to hot. get what i mean. I havnt followed you before so fill me in on the details. ie has anyone been to your house. are you on cable or dsl. To me it sounds like someoneelse has also got your I.P. it happens they should be able to switch it but there coulsd be other probs..

My problem is similar to yours. I was get disconnected randomly every single day any where from 5 mins. to 1 hour. I called @Sucks several times and finally they sent a truck out. The problem was that my signal strength was too weak. They had to come out 2 times before it was permantly fixed. I haven't had any problems since then.

think it would be possible. even those att rr

eventually after i provisioned my modem, it

Have you tried what i suggested to other members
Restore your registry back to normal and just install the regular speedguide tweak
Just wondering, did you use cablenut's tweak
I had same prob due to unneccessary registry strings, overtweaking
I'am having a feeling that alot of these disconnects are from overtweaking, unneccessary strings

have had major probs staying connected since i got my service. for first 2 weeks it would connect for couple hours then disconnect for DAYS! went round and round with tech support...check network settings...have them come out and switch modems 3 times!!...restage....reprovision...reboot...reinstall...reiterate...retry....all at least half dozen times...ugh!! finally 3rd modem worked fine for couple weeks then crash!!....wont connect at all. decided to take matters in my own hands and check the coax outside. turns out the existing coax was about 10 years old and connector was actually rusted. could get the modem to connect intermittently by jiggling the cable. got new coax and at long last all is well. solid connect for a month now. would think the installer would have inspected and replaced when he was here but he did not. not to minimize your difficulties but checking the cable is certainly worth a shot. good luck!!

Sorry it took me so long to get back. First i was an @home tech prior to my current job. (not in your area). Im sorry that the guys in your area are stupid and or lazy, but it happens. I cant apologize for the way cable operators work.
As for my last post. no i dont think that you have been hacked. what happens is that someone has done swept the local are for computer names and taken your comp name. Its possible.

when u had the prob? this is how my connection is like. when i download, speed
changes so randomly, sometimes it starts downloading at about 300k but i drops down to
120k. i never got up to 400k or higher.
also when i play multiplay games like counter
-strike, or some other games that u r able to
see ur ping, the ping goes up and down like hell, and i never got any lower than 20
im not really happy with my service currently. i cant find anything good about it
. with the slow connection and the stupid technitians who dont know crap!!!!!!.

it was the nic. the cheap d-link crap was the cause. and i bought a new linksys nic
and for 3days now i have no disconnection
