question for law enforcement members of SG

Post by Rings890 »

Any members in law enforcement please PM me. I have some questions about the “Mental abilities” test. I just got a letter that my application to the local police force has been approved and I have to write this exam and run an obstacle course. :)

Basically I am wondering if there is any way to study for a test like this?

Are you talking about the mental aptitude tests? I think one of them has Minnesota in the name. I think the Unv. of Minnesota developed that one.

Anyway, No, there really isn't a way to study for them. Answer each question HONESTLY and TRUEFULLY. You will notice that some of the questions are asked a different way several times on the test. You will see questions like "have you ever thought about killing yourself?" Well yes, who hasn't in their entire lifetime.

So, you should be fine. Just answer truthfully and honestlyas I said above.

Unless you are really crazy! ;)

Is "mental abilities", by any chance, just a P.C. way of saying I.Q. test?

I think a good nights rest before the test will help too.

Well, if it is an I.Q. test.....get a good nights rest and get a cup of coffee in ya, just before the test. It is said that caffeine gives you an edge.

What is great about an I.Q. test is that you can't study for it, or practice. What ya need is already part of your intellectual prowess.

Good Luck to ya!!!!!

Nope. It's just like it says, it tests your mental stability and honesty. It really has nothing to do with IQ.
