Post by Avatar Viper »

My mobo is very old one, PIII, VIA, AGP 1.0, 1X/2X.

I am thinking of getting a ATI 9000. Will it have any compatible issue???

Or what other card do you guys recommend, just want to play HL2. Don want to upgrade my entire com.

I seriously doubt there is ANY way you can play Half Life 2 with your system :( .

Adding a graphics card that is already old would be a waste of time, sorry!

Official Half-Life 2 Box minimum specs:

* Processor: 1.2 GHz Processor
* OS: Windows, 2000/XP/Me/98
* Graphic card: DirectX 7 level graphics card
* Hard Drive: 4.5 GB
* Memory: 256 MB RAM
* Other: Internet Connection, DVD-ROM Drive

technically a ATI Radeon 9000 should work fine....keep in mind you'll have to scale everything back...run everything at medium or low settings, at probably 1024x768 resolution.
you dont need the ultimate video card just to play the game....of course you wont be able to play at maximum settings...but you can still play.

Yep just going to have to run it at a low res with no eye candy

a old Nivida ti4200 would be a nice upgrade Or a 9000 would do

And running Half-Life 2 with no eye candy is a complete waste, period. The whole POINT of the game is eye candy.

I gotta have that "eye candy" after all your eyes are very important anyway.. best to have the best display you can if your going to be staring at a "non moving" object for such a long time. Nice LCD and a good graphics card!
