How do I insert an image (bmp) from my hard drive into a post ?

It has to be hosted somewhere on a server on the Internet first... Then you just link to it with the [img ] ... [ /img] tags.

We do not host images (except for premium members, folding signatures and avatars).

It is likely that your ISP provides some type of web space where images can be uploaded... Then you can link to them from anywhere.
