Arafat Near Death.....
He's clinically brain dead and not much longer before the rest of his body shuts down. Let's hope that his death will somehow clear a path to a more peaceful Middle East.........highly doubt it though!

Well Prey, either Israel will re-engae the Palestinians in peaceful negotiations or they will mount an all out final assault. I hope for the former rather than the latter. But this may prove to be the best opportunity for peace tat the region has seen to date.
I still can't figure out how Osama doesn't catch a deadly bug......he must be really good at washing his hands.

Hi Prey
They by their religion must be buried within 24hrs. and they can't agree on where to park his A$$, so they keep him on life support till they can work things out and then they'll announce he's dead.
I personally think he's been dead for 2 or 3 days now?
Hopefully his demise will restart talks, but even that is a question mark imho. As mentioned, it is a great opportunity to do so though. Lets hope common sense prevails and this issue is finally settled.

Interesting and true minir. Parking his a$$ could be a bigger problem than we realise as well.minir wrote:Hi Prey

Hi Croc and Prey
I'm just guessing of course, but i believe i might be right in this instance. With all those rumours swirling around a few days ago of his passing thats what came to my mind?
Settle things like where to bury him and at the same time lay out the troops in the appropriate positions etc. to ensure a peaceful burial and then announce he just died.
You just know that there will be violence during his burial with all the turmoil it will cause.

There will be the usual running through the streets with weapons firing and he will be carried to the grave in the same fashion all those before him were carried.minir wrote:Hi Croc and Prey

The problem will be after the burial when the violence resumes with new vengeance.
I believe we will see some heavy chit go down over there and real soon.
Both sides are equally as stubborn and prove that with each and every day they screw with each others lives.

I suspect it's a matter of time as it sounds like his primary organs are failing. In my view it's one of the best things that could happen. There will be a shakeup in the PLO, of course, and turf battles, but whoever emerges as the new leader (probably the current or immediate former Prime Minister) will be someone the Israelis are at least willing to talk to. AND someone the US can back to "encourage" the Israelis to do so.
As long as Arafat was in power the process was at a dead stop because the Israelis flat refused to talk to him anymore and no one could move them on that. His death removes that obstacle, and allows both sides to re-engage without losing face.
Plus, he's a corrupt, amoralistic thief who has stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from the aid to Palestine and was nepotisitic as all hell. He needed to go, and wouldn't. So his death is a positive for both the Palestinians and the Israelis.
