PLEASE HELP: How to recover deleted .txt file?

Post by maro »

Today I accidentally deleted a .txt file using SHIFT+DEL.
I already tried the following software to recover it:
- Recover4All Professional
- Recover My Files
- Seacrh and Recover
- File Recover
- VirtualLab Data Recovery.
NONE of these programs can find my deleted file :(
I can recover other files which was deleted long time ago, but why I can't recover a simple .TXT file deleted 30 mins. ago???
What else can I do to recover it???

Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my English...

BTW, it looks like you're SOL. Maybe when you installed all those data recovery apps, it overwrote the deleted file.

Thanks for quick reply.
SHIFT+DEL = permanently delete file (without moving it to the recycle bin). :(
Any more ideas???

If the file is that important, you can take it to a data recovery specialist..........I hope you can bend over and grab your ankles though.

Well first off, there ain't nothin' accidental about SHIFT+DEL. That's like saying you accidentally rebooted your computer using CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Secondly, what the hell is in this one text file to go ape**** over? Celebrity female cell numbers? The secret to cold fusion? The Wargames missile codes?

First off, the more progs that you try, the less your chance of recovery... ]http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:Cm ... file&hl=en[/url]

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=How+to+recover+deleted+.txt+file&btnG=Google+Search

Good luck! :)

Try using a program called File Scavenger...choose the Exhaustive search.
You can use the demo to recover up to 64k and also to see if its recoverable before you buy . Its works well

well a norton un-delete app has worked well for me in the past ... I have been able to get files back even after a format of the wrong HDD. Believe it or not it is up to you ...

But, I would guess that since you have been installing software, then you may have restarted at some point since you deleted the file?

If so then I am not certain of whether or not you will have much luck retrieving it.

I would however say that if you have not, and you have a lot of memory, and have not needed to flush the memory for anything ... you may very well be able to recover it. However, on XP I believe that it will empty the heap (.NET lingo) every so often no matter what ....

If no restart yet .... you still have a chance ... if restarted ... I am not sure what you can do ....

The software I recommended is great for retrieving data...even a wiped disk or a Messed up Raid. I just retrieved stuff from a customers drive that he had Formatted with XP and there was stuff on the drive from not only the last format but the last format before that from a previous owner. It can check Defunct drives for Raid or exhaustive and normal search for a regular volume. I did a recover on a Blown raid drive and got back 100% of the guys stuff..for 39.00 and the chance to demo it first to see if you can get back your data its worth it. Check it out if you ever get a chance and need a recovery tool.

I've used GetDataBack several times and it's always recovered my data.

But if that area of the drive has been overwritten, you're SOL.
