Why?

Post by ScottE »

Does SG keep asking me if I want to install Flash Player 7 everytime I browse the forums? I don't want it on any of my other machines. :irate: ! I have it on my main right but I don't want that stuff on these other computers.
Respect it.

SG itself doesn't use Flash currently. Some of the ads are Flash based, that's probably the reason you're getting the message. Up to you whether you want it installed...

Macromedia really is trustworthy software, quite harmless, and a tiny download.

If you don't have it installed, you'll be getting that prompt pretty much all over the internet.

No Philip say it isn't so man. SG is too classy to move to flash now or in the future. There are more viable solutions that aren't as buggy I'm sure.

Well considering I don't have admin privilages On the computers in the labs at the college. Not much I can do about installing anything.

And yeah I had a Premium Membership for a year that expired. Just don't have the $ right now to reup for another year. I will at somepoint though.

These ads seem to be targeted based on the thread topic. Something new?

You don't have to buy a year up front. I did three months when money was tight.

Yeah I know. But the cost savings is more significant going with the year. Only $5 a month that way. Its either Beer or SG Premium Membership. I'll take beer right now. :rotfl:

You said it, heh . Don't want to say we're going to hold off forever, but Flash is not planned for the foreseeable future.

No need to justify, I was just making a shameless plug of the Premium Membership there ;)

About the ad targeting --> Google has an affiliate program where ads are actualy served based on the relevance of your page content from their Database... It targets pretty well as you've noticed :)
