Post by RoscoPColtrane »

Im looking for a divx encoder like DR DIVX that is very simple to use and all i have to do is hit a few buttons. I'm not willing to dish out hte money for dr divx because i don't use it that often but my trial had expired so i need something new.....any recommendations? Thanks

im not sure what you are looking to do. if you are looking to rip and encode dvds i recommend "dvd decoder" and flask mpeg. if you are looking to edit, i recomment vdub found at oldversion.com. that is about the extent of the divx encoding that i know. :)

virtualdub can use the divx codec among other codecs like xvid ect.

what are you trying to do, compress video for web usage or what ?

where are you getting these videos from, downloading them or what ?

mpg1 format in general is slightly smaller in size than doing it with divx and better quality i think, i use TMPGEnc to do that.

most divx encoded videos don't look all that good to me, but most xvid encoded ones are okay.

there are a few people here who know much more than i do on this stuff, and they have helped me much.
