My Hitachi 60gb I *Think* is choking:(

Post by SLK »

Well, I had a harddrive cooler on this drive for a good 5 months and the harddrive was running fantastic. I switched to a Shuttle SB51g Cube and the HDD cooler wouldnt fit. Its been a week now and my harddrive developed this low pitched screeching noise every once in a while..

Its a 60gb 7200RPM 2mb cache drive.

Any Ideas?

Thanks :)

Hmmm unless your case's air circulation sucks bit time your HD should be fine... 7200 RPM drives nowadays aren't hot enough to break down on their own IMO. Are you overclocking or running the PCI bus above 33?

Hmmm I'm not too sure then. Maybe try blowing the dust on the HD?

A 5 months HD should be just as new...
