When Concorde first kicked off they did a world tour.
I was there the day it landed at Tullamarine Airport in Victoria.
That was the only time it ever came to Australia.
I am sure you northerners will miss it. A sad day for aviation.
Thanks for putting the pics up. Great !!
The second lot of plane pics for today. My sister just sent a collection of pics of the Navy's "Blue Angels" in flight. Awesome to say the least!!!
Wow...I didn't know they were going to retire her. After thinking about it...pretty old design now though. I remember when I was a little kid, seeing it when I was down visiting my aunt in Minneola, Long Island, NY. Cool to watch her during the approach or departures. Loud ....oh was she loud!

Truely a sad day indeed. Yesterday, I downloaded the concorde for FS2004. Airliners.net has some great pictures of the Concorde as well. (at this time, the site is down )
Its sad to see such an Icon of the sky retired, but its prolly for the best, plus you can imagine the wear on the construction of the plane after 100,000 hours of super sonic flight...(1977-2003)
Im happy that their not hacking them all to bits, but instead placing many of them into museums
so they just decided that we are not technologically advanced enough to efficiently continue supersonic transcontinental consumer flight via another plane? sounds sorta backwards to me..

Financially not a lot of ppl can afford flying Concorde. With the recent economic downside many ppl simply choose to fly regular jets to save money. Hence Concorde doesn't have enough incoming to even cover its expense.
There are more issues than the above such as noises, fuel consumption, accidents, old airplane, etc.

I just figured that in the past 26 years they would have been working towards making it cheaper, more efficient and the planes would have had replacements by now that would be faster, more pollution-free, seat more people, include more luxuries, etc.. We're talkin' 26 years here, not just a decade..
oh well, I guess I'm asking a bit much from our aviation masterminds. Afterall, they can't control the economy..
...
...
but still. 26 years and no significant advancement in terms of commercial supersonic flight..

I agree with you guys. It's sad to see the Concorde go. You don't normally see technology come in that is useful and then fall by the wayside without a superior replacement.
Oh well. They have got to be working on a replacement.
In the meantime, I wouldn't mind one of those small jets flying along side her:
