paintball!

Post by RoscoPColtrane »

Just picked up a paintball gun and such! Plan on going out tomorrow with the rest of the Air Force DEP people and playing some paintball. THis will be my first real time going. What should i expect? I got the tank filled today and took it out and shot around with it. Its pretty nice its a semi auto spydersonix. Im actually surpised with the power of these things! Those balls fly like mad....wondering how much it will hurt to be hit tomorrow. DOes anyone on here play? IM kinda wondering how long my 12ounce bottle will last. How many shots i mean.

thanks

if you wear long sleeve clothes it will only hurt if you get hit on the hand or neck. If you get hit on the neck it looks like a big hickey. I got hit on the back of my hand once and it looked exatly like a hickey kinda weird. Then i had a friend whose last name is Hickey and he had one too. Boy we had fun with that. Paintball is awsome dont be scared. It only hurts for a second or two.

IM kinda worried about being hit in the throat...will that do any damage? I just noticed my mask doens't hang down all that far....

BTW what do you think about this? Some of you may remember that jenny has problems with her belly. DO you think she should change playing? If she got hit in the belly do you think it would cause enough pressure to hurt her?

just wondering...

thanks again

I sort of disagree with Onethenumber2. Unless your wearing a ton of clothes, it hurts anywhere you get it. But he is right, it only last a few seconds.

What to expect from a first timer?

1. Shooting way too much paint. Hope you have between 1000 -1500 paintballs.

2. Running backwards like a chicken

3. Staying in one place, thinking it is safer to hide than move forward.

4. Keep that mask on at all times, period!!

well keep your chin down and you should be fine. If you are really concerned then wear a turtle neck or something.

I haven't played in a long time. The last time I competed was in the Spyder Cup 2 years ago. Didn't win but it was fun.

Don't be afraid to get hit. If you haven't been shot yet then have someone you trust shoot you for the first time at about 15 yards range. That is the average distance to get shot from. Just so you know what to expect.

Above all else, have fun.

I use to play when I was younger around 18-20, and loved it. Spekaing of which maybe I should do it again, now that I am trying to get fit and in shape.

Anyway, guess where I got shot? Right on the throat, let me tell you that hurt really bad. I will never forget that.

At first they thought they were going to have to take me to the hospital, but I was able to breathe fine, so no worries, it just hurt and stung for days after.

That is really the only place that ever truly hurt, everywhere else was nothing compared to that.

I still would do paintball and not be worried about getting shot there, it is a whoel lot of fun and chances are very small to get shot there.

WEAR A CUP!!!!!

I cannot stress this enough.

Over the 5 years I played I had been shot twice in the nads. I still remember the pain. The hand and neck hurt too, but nothing compared to a nutsack shot. Lets just say, welt on the sack is not a laughing matter....

Have fun! :D

throat hit...

Post by knightmare »

i dont know which type of mask u have, but u can attach a leather flap to hang down from the chin area, the length of your throat.

Steve Yeager, i believe his name was, catcher for the Dodgers, used this concept on his catcher's mask. He was hit in the throat,
by a foul ball once, really zapped him. I think the same or a similar concept is used today...

I got it from dicks sporting goods. It was only 129.99 instead of 179.99 that ive seen online. Its a good gun from what i can tell. It shoot pretty accurately and has good range. I was out back yesterday target practicing and i was hitting probobly 50 yards or farther. That is with the stock barrel. Im thinking about getting a longer one...someone told me the longer the barrle the straighter the shot....
