Comp geeks help needed

Post by Sid »

OK guy's and gals. I've been out of the IT field for a bit. Looking to build me a cheap desktop as my server died and my main desktop was donated to my kid.

I found this board, but I can't find any info on it at all. Is this thing real!!! I don't need anything bad ass. Just gonna use it for guitar pro and recording.

You can get a brand new mobo + CPU at newegg for a little over $100. We're talking Asus board and new AMD CPU. Stuff is too cheap to be cheap these days.

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

Guys, I'm unemployed. Looking to spend as little as possible and use older hardware.

If ya got something for sale then yell at me. It doesn't need to be state of the art.

I've got a case, PSU, some ram(may need something newer), HDD's, sound card. Basically, I'm gonna take the server apart and strip the bad parts out and use it.

Been bidding on a A7V600 board. Yeah its old but if I throw a Barton core and my SCSI Cheatah's in it I should be fine. I REALLY don't need some bad ass system, I'll never use it's power.

Sid I have a few components I "cleaned up" from doing a bunch of relacements at a place that does custom fabrication for the military. They guy that did the prior IT for this business used a lot of cloner parts...I can ship something your way such as
Biostar U8668 D motherboard, for Celeron/Pentium 4. It has a big HSF on it, I haven't peeked at the processor. Also has RAM. Not a fancy board, but for the price under current XMas rate of "free"....it can be on its way to you.

You can get DDR2 ram for way cheap..I'm talking about less than 15$ a 1gig stick if you look good enough. You can likely find a cheap 8600GT 512mb card that will play just about everything there is right now for prob less than 50$ after rebates of course.

Wow Brian, that would be cool. Let me see if I can back out of the bid I'm winning on Ebay. Also let me make sure I'm not going to have any compatabilty problems as the cards don't like to play nice.

E-MU 0404 sound
Adaptec 29320 scsi
Linksys wireless

Edit: Send it man. I find no issues at all and the ebay is only $11.00 so even if I win it I can get it and use it anyway in my duagters system that's dying.

Send my info on paypal for shipping.

Thanks man and merry X-mas to all
