Passed CCNA and ENCOR

Post by FunK »

Passed CCNA in Feb and ENCOR in March. Going to take the ENARSI exam, hopefully toward the end of this month.
It's been a hell of a lot of studying. Almost there. One more test and I'll have CCNP knocked out.

I actually had to look up what those were. Contrats! I know there's no way in heck I could accomplish something even close to that.

It's supposed to. We'll see how good the bump is when I finish the cert.

Speak English or sheep talk. I have a sheep talk translator if that is of interest (for sale). Some fees apply. PM me for details.

How do you spell interest? I meant to say "give me money" but the spelling might have been misleading. Again... PM me for my nude photos.

Well, I went ahead and took the ENARSI exam. I didn't manage my time well at all. Spent over 20 mins on the first lab and pretty much sealed my fate. I ended up failing it. But that's to be expected. I tried to take it after only a month of studying and I've been out of the networking game for over a decade. But at least now I've seen the test and can better study the areas I'm weak in. I'm kinda mad that the labs on the exam were well beyond the scope of the labs in the official Cisco curriculum. Now I'm doing CCIE level labs to prep for the next attempt.

Strange that the Cisco prep wasn't thorough enough. Important thing is that you are learning what you need to do better for next time, you will pass it once you put enough time in it I am sure.

Don't get me wrong, the stuff on the exam was taught in the materials. But the troubleshooting labs in the materials were much more basic. Perhaps it was nerves or anxiety but the bugs I found on the exam were tougher. The course's practice labs were mostly easy as pie.

The licensed land surveyor test is the same. 99% of the people fail the test the first time (but they know they will). The knowledge gained by the first test (puts hoof up in the air as one of those) learns so much. There is a year wait before you can take it again. I'm happy and proud of you taking the test. It's a hard one. That said, congratulations. Go for it again!!!!!

Follow up. I also passed ENARSI in September. So I got my CCNP Enterprise knocked out.
Thinking of doing CyberOps or CCNP Security next.

ENARSI was no joke. That was the hardest Cisco test I've ever taken.

It is a very good thing that you are following up on this path, and you're consistent. Congrats on taking the test! Getting one of those security certs will definitely make you more valuable in any corporate/government setting. Do you use this knowledge in your current job, or what's next?

I use a bit of it. On my network, I'm one of the spokes so don't have overall ownership of the whole thing. But I do have access to change any of the routers.
I'll be looking for a more network-centric job next year sometime. I want to get back to Japan. That's why I think some security / cyber certs might be good. Opens up more jobs that might get me where I want to be.

Absolutely will open up doors. Japan, interesting, never been there but planning to visit some day. I am too settled/comfortable/lazy/married/old to gather up and move anywhere, but maybe I will try to spend summers in the EU in a few years when I slow down from work.

I was living in Okinawa for 12 years before heading here. I'll probably retire there so looking for a job to get me to that goal line. It's basically like the Hawaii / FL of Japan and I absolutely love it there. Scuba, fishing, beaches, tropical, laid back island life.
