What are you listening to???
3AM & all is quiet, the hydro is at its best, my stereo warmed up & a new Suzanne Vega CD called "Close Up Vol.2 People & Places" is in the player so I sink into my chair for a listen and it becomes very apparent that the reviews about a new A/C Outlet by the name of Maestro is absolutely doing what I had thought was just hype but had ordered anyway to see if it did better the well rated Oyaide SWO-DX Ultimo I had installed months prior. Over time i had become aware of a sharpness to the highs using the Oyaide.
The Maestro after burning in for 200 hrs. most definitely sounded richer, with more bass especially mid bass & the highs where sweeter it was an all round more natural presentation of the music. I still wonder how these things can make such a difference (Sometimes not for the better), yet listening tells me they do. Feeling justified in my expenditure i now concentrate more on Suzanne & as usual she never fails to satisfy my soul. Love her stuff. Big recommendation for Maestro Outlets for anyone into this type of thing?

Cat Stevens: Teaser and the Firecat
This contains his "Morning Has Broken & Moonshadow" songs which i remember vividly from the seventies, when a pair of JBL speakers, a Pioneer receiver fronted by a Dual turntable & Shure cartridge pretty much put you in heaven.
A couple of Beanbag Chairs & a some cold beer along with a couple of like minded friends made for a wonderful evening. Smoking back then was very acceptable & many people rolled their own which certainly added to the atmosphere.

Carly Simon: No Secrets
Her hits "Your So Vain & The Right Thing to Do" gave her a real boost in sales.
I recall the stir that came with this release back in the seventies as though it was yesterday. Of course it was all LP's then and cover art was as important as the music at times. This was one of those times.
Word quickly passed amongst those of us who liked our music and the word was "Wow! You got to check this LP out" Carly the little nipper must have sold a million copies just for the cover. Times were good back then.

Greg Brown: Milk of the Moon
He is fast becoming a favorite play for me. I like the atmosphere he creates & the sound he generates. His voice is very laid back and he has a gentle way with which he presents his wares.
Doesn't get any better than this imho. Excellent.
I already have two more of his CD's yet to play and am looking forward to the experience. He has quite a lengthy career behind him & how he escaped me i don't know. Given a listen i think many, many people would become fans of this Folk artist.

Excellent overall to be sure, but i heard this strange background sound & thought I'd left a tap running & went to check on it, nothing. I then realized it was the cd. It turned out to be the sound of the wind.
In doing a lookup on AllMusic i found this.
"Live sessions were cut in his home studio with the windows open, allowing the sounds of everyday life--barking dogs, mothers calling children, cars and trucks-- to pour through, making them part and parcel of the album's fabric." thus explaining the sounds i heard.
He is a favorite artist of mine and his music satisfies.

Prine was a mailman before being discovered and used to make up tunes as he walked his route, thus the title. This recording was discovered when his new wife made him clean out the garage prior to a move to a new home. Happily it was found as it contains some excellent material from his very earliest years prior to fame & fortune.
