laptop locking up from inserting pc card

i just ordered a new wireless pc card and everytime i insert it into the slot the entire computer freezes up. its never done this before and it worked fine when i just bought it. i'm using windows xp home sp2 on an ECS built laptop. with a celeron 1.8 512mb

any help would be awesome

my MTU and MSS is way off i need help!

i have a dell inspiron 1300 w/ dell internal wireless. xp home w/ sp2. my analyzer results are normal whenever i'm on the wired connection but when im wireless my settings are wayyyy off.

Why is it that when im on a laptop on my network....my AOL instant messenger signs off and signs back on? basically it is being intermittent.

You can simply remove the checkmark from the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in the Network Adapter properties, or set the value with the Optimizer, it is in the "Advanced" tab...

Note it only comes into play in the presense of a running application that indicates it needs high priority/real time traffic ...

Now that I have my DSL connection fine tuned. Its web browsing speed time! I noticed that on my dad's computer, which is also using FF, and so is mine but mine is considerably slower than his!


What can I do to improve web page loading times and less "Waiting for..." and/or "Connecting to.."

on average...about 1.25Mbps on Myspeed

and on speakeasy on average of 1100-1225

Here are some analyzer results from Computer #2 on my network. one that my dad uses. it has used tcp optimizer with optimal settings and the connection speed slider on 3000. Web browsing seems a lot faster than my own ...

Pros and Cons of different firewalls.

Can someone tell me the pro's and con's of some software firewalls out there? Such as people saying that ZoneAlarm sucks. Kerio, Sygate..etc. I use ZoneAlarm because I can control which programs have access to the internet and ones that don't.

Maybe theres someone out there that can change my mind ...
