Cannot view streamed video or audio with WMP..

For some reason I can no longer view video that streams or audio files. It is not site specific as I can't see any streaming video or hear an audio playing. The windows media player loads in the window but it will never begin to stream. I tried clicking the play button but it will not initiate ...

I think I'm still on 5mb, not sure, maybe 7.

Pages load anywhere from 2 to 5 seconds, mostly around 3, when the whole page reloads.

i ran the powermax advanced scan and it passed. i then booted into safemode and disabled video card, sound, networkcard and it still wont boot into windows.

OK, if you can boot into safe mode then it's not a bad hard drive or other faulty hardware. Most likely it's a bad driver loading or corrupt program. Once you are in safe mode go to start - run msconfig and uncheck any programs you don't need to load Windows. If that doesn't work boot into safe ...

Can you boot into safe mode? If so choose the option "Last known good configuration", if that doesn't work boot into safe mode and uncheck anything that you don't need to have Windows boot.

Windows not loading.

When I turn on my computer, it doesnt ever get into windows, it stays at the part where there is a windows logo and that bar with the moving little thing. I thought maybe it was loading something but after 2 hours, it was still doing that. I can boot into safe mode and I dont really know what to do ...

I think he just wants to secure his rig by "locking workstation". He said he only has one account, so fast user switching really doesn't come into play...it's really just a GUI way of having several users being able to lock their session.

I only have one user account in XP but I have a password set so I have to type it in when I log on. with Ubuntu I judt do iwconfig eth1 essid wireless-m (its a wireless connection) then dhclient eth1. im connected.

so if its a ethernet connection its sudo ifconfig eth1 then sudo dhclient eth1.

you can use TMPGEnc to convert it to DVD compliant mpeg2 and then use a DVD authoring program to make the dvd files. then you can burn it to a dvd.

I also recommend Ubuntu, very very easy. All you have to do is sudo apt-get install firefox, its built in anyways. Just try it, also on there website they send you free install cds/live cds, unlimited amount.
