WinXP Rwin boxes blanked out in CN, and just tried the analyser page, and wow!

Rwin is 64710....optimised itself eh?

Ok thanks for that.

I have found that LM9.0, without a MTU setting, due to a new onboard lan chip/card/whatever, attained a download speed of 53.6Kb/sec, but now with an MTU setting I get 56KB/sec, whereas with my MSwindows box I get 58KB/sec at best.

I will check timestamps setting tho'

mnosteele52, I just did a quick install of winXP on my other machine, and leaving the Rwin values blank etc, the speed change on this box is about the same.
With my MTU set at 1478 and a Rwin of 51768 I get 58Kb/sec, and with Rwin values blank, I get 57.8Kb/sec.

No I forgot to do it yesterday, so I have done it tonight.

My mal is 1000! That was done as per the guide.; tracert to 5 sites, whilst downloading setupaol6.exe. Then knock out the highest 1188, knock out the lowest 125, then average of other 3: 922 + 1078 + 1000 = 3000/3 = 1000

I just gave it another go earlier this evening, after I read mnosteels' explanation etc., and I thought logically it should work ok, so I went for it again.

No it did not work, I could hardly connect to my ISP; mail program failed! Anyway, I tried surfing and then did a speed test at adslguide.org ...

Ok, I suppose 57.4 ish is good enough then for a 512 connection...90%, which according to Andrzej's explantaion to me about PPPoA adsl is about the best I can get.

Yes I changed the RWIN value to 17256, and got a download speed of 58KB/Sec and an upload speed of 31KB/sec

1. I am in the process of finding out this answer

2. There is NO value of 1460 in my registry of both win2k and win98.

3. It is a PPPoA connection, but how do I set it up 'correctly'?

I have a win2k machine and a win98 machine both linked up to a router on a adsl connection.

When I go to the analyser test page here, it tells me that my MTU is 1460, and not 1500 which I have set it to.

I managed to get my RWIN value worked out using the formula given, and now have:

MTU 140
MSS1390
RWIN 22240

Which gives a download speed of between 55kB/sec and 59kB/sec, and an upload speed of 30kB/sec

A well known p2p program for getting other ppls files etc. It was the updated version. Will go back to earlier version later.

When I connect to the internet, I use a dialler prgram to coonect to my isp from a boot up. The dialler program just calls 0,30, which are the thingy values for UK. Sorry got a senior moment there.
Otherwise, I am connected 24/7 (except for a reboot)

Download speed is 576 kbbps
Upload is 256 kbps

I use a Speedtouch USB frog for and ADSL connection which is not ppoe, but could be ppoa.
