Yes, this problem too suddenly popped up on my system, but I believe I may have fixed it just this morning by simply replacing the NIC. At least try it, they don't cost sh*t!

Yup, that's the only solution the "senior" tech support could come up with. Grr.

Its too soon to tell, but this morning, I installed a new NIC, and the problem has not yet returned! I'll post again if I was wrong, but if I'm not, this is a very good thing to know!

Worth a shot, at least.

Seems like this is a fairly common problem. I'm seeing a lot of posts about it.

That solution sounds promising. I just need to know how to do it in 98 as well.

Yeah, they told me to replace the cat 5 too. But I only have to renew / release my IP. I really don't want to pay the $50 to have them come out to my house.

Oh, one more tidbit of info - this started occuring only with my new comp. It didn't happen with my old one, but there was a delay of about 2 ...

Hm, I just discovered something interesting.

ARGH!!!
I'm having this exact same problem, with At&t.
Here are some tidbits that could be useful:

- I have both win98 and 2000 (dual boot), and it happens with both
- When it stops working, the "PC Link" LED on my RCA modem is still lit
- This started when I got my shiny new computer, and I'm ...

GAH! I'm having this same problem, only with At&t. I have no idea what the problem is!
BTW, I have both 98 and 2000 (dual boot), and it happens in both. Tech support is clueless. HELP
