hi norm, after I disable nvcchflt, it let me boot into windows. I then install the nf4 chipset and reboot. After reboot it saying i'm missing/corrupt PCI.sys file.

What's next?

I'm out of luck. I have no spare desktop nor vid card to try it out. But if i'm able to install the chipset thru floppy or cd-rom.. it prolly could fix the problem??

the 423 socket is older and is for 400mhz bus P4s only i think, maybe some 533.

the 478 allows u to use 533 or 800mhz bus P4s, also has more cache on the chip, the performance is MUCH better.

why upgrade your motherboard if ur keeping the same stuff in it?

Your not gonna get alot of more media stuff out of a new mobo. some sata ports from cdroms or hard drives, built in audio, the option to use a memory card reader if u buy one. Just little things like that.

when I download a file from mIRC its fast as first then gradually drop. It didn't happen b4 when I use to have a 1000/200 package but since I have a new package 3000/300 the stable of it .. is horrible.

You shoud have it at 100 full if you are using a switch the onboard is fine you don't not need a new network card. If you are using a switch disregared the seperate subnet thing.

320-350 is still pretty good speed i thought you had like 300 and 150 range.

i just got to say this simply becuz you guys havent even mentioned it.

its onboard, go into the bios and see if there is a setting for 10 100 or auto.

now go into device manager and double click the NIC. go to proerties and advanced.
look thru the list of settings there in the advanced tab. look ...

I have the same problem as well.... I have cableone... 3000/300. For some reason, I get more speed from a lappy then a desktop. Lappy w/out tweak or anything.... weird? yes... been like that since I got the laptop. Somehow the lappy can get more juice than the desktop.

Well after I played w/ the addon from cablenut. I find that the 3000/256 setting is the fastest so far. I've tested my speed on one of the ftp that in mnosteel52 tips thread. Hi mccoffee, I have jux tested out ur tweak.. it seem that I can get only 2500 out of 3000. I have try the css addon from cablenut (3000/384) and it seem to get higher speed from it (2800). Don't know why..
