I got a blue screen today on a work laptop. (suprise) Does anyone know if the blue screens look different in Windows XP? The color was a little creamier than the old school hard blue. The error description showed up at the end of the page instead of at the beginning.

Old sever IO and NIC Question
Hey All,
I've been doing some work for a small company that has an old server with a Pentium I running 200Mhz and a new server running a P4 at 1.5Ghz (something like that). I've been running backups to the older machine(which also acts as the domain controller). I just noticed that bandwidth ...

I tried installing the software in Safe Mode and I get an error message again. If I disable the msi.dll and related files then it tells me that Installer won't startup. If I just try to reinstall, I get a message that the service already exists.

Keyboard failure - Can't boot system
When I boot my machine, I get a long beep. If I pull out the keyboard, it won't bootup due to keyboard failure. Im sure I have the option to halt on all errors in the BIOS. But I can't get into the BIOS without a keyboard at this point. USB keyboard is no good either.

I have worked with the Linksys 802.11b routers, and my impression of them is that they are finicky. The last one I worked with crapped out on me every time I changed a setting. i.e I would change the long preamble to short, reboot and then I couldn't see the router anymore. I had to do a hard reset ...

Yeah, the site is definitely externally hosted. Third-party online database stuff.
I looked into ADSL here in this area. They could get a 7Mbits/768 kbits connection for about $250. Now that is not bad at all. They are paying more for the partial T1 and..they have a contract. So I suggested, just ...

I found out some more details. The website is database driven and it does slow down during business hours. It runs faster in the mornings and picks up again late afternoon.

Is 512/512 enough?
I'm supporting a small company (10-15 users) that has a partial T1 connection..512/512. The network has one NT domain controller, around 15 PC's, 2 network printers and a 10/100 Cisco router. Most internet usage is for email and web browsing with a few users who will download larger files at times ...

Many thanks Sid, that will be very handy in the future. Do you know if this prog will test DDR memory? It tested my PC2700 memory, but it reported the badwidth to be around 700MB/s. That is definitely not my badnwidth. Sandra reports it around 2000MB/s (even though it is theoretically 2700.) Still ...

Does anyone know of a RAM tester that I can use in windows 2000? My main partition is NTFS, so I don't think I can boot with a DOS boot disk. Most of the mem testers I see are DOS based.

Nothing but trouble from Earthlink. It took two and a half months to get DSL setup when we signed on. Conveniently they started the contract after setup was complete. Such a hassle. Hard drive controllers don't support asynchronous timings...meaning that you can't run two devices at different speeds. SCSI controllers can do just that, but they are a better technology. The controller can't talk to one drive at a fast speed and then to another at a slow speed. The IDE controller ...
