I've had Comcast since @home days and I have zero complaints. I routinely see 112+mb down / 12mb up, pings below 30ms. I'm running a SB6120 with a Netgear nighthawk R7000, latest official Netgear firmware.

I'd keep vista on it, just make sure your patched up to SP1 and all updates!

The 6gigs will run on Vista vs your XP home so again,stay with Vista.

The Video card is a pc of junk.. you should sell it and go for a Nvidia card such as a 9800GTX or higher but be aware that I believe 350watt LiteOn ...

Nobody's figured out how to adjust Vista's TCP/IP stack but judging by your speed test results and the tier of service that your on, I'd say your good to go. Vista TCP/IP stack is self adjusting for the most part.

Honestly xp64 wasnt that bad, I mean all my drivers installed perfectly from setup. If youve got a 64bit processor I would say go for it,but if u have at least a gig of ram, i'd run vista. I went xp64 to vista ultimate 64 and havent looked back since.

If i were you id opt for the cheapest x2 with dual 1mb cache and then OC. My x2 3800 runs rock solid at 2.5ghz.

Speeds are fine, however sometimes I do experience a brief delay when pages load in IE. Checked spyware, anti virus, etc. I already have the optimizer set at optimal for all net adapters. Motherboard is a MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum with onboard gigabit nics (two of them)

either way he goes either the 6800GT or the 7800 he may need a powersupply update also. The 6800GT may use more power than the 7800 too.

I've got a 550watt psu, so i think i'm covered in the power area. I didnt really want to spend more then 150 or so on video, thats why I went with the 6600GT ...

Anyone using SNET/SBC/Yahoo DSL....in the past couple of weeks I ran into huge problems with SX routers running the 1.50 firmware.

IMHO- that's one UGLY case! :eek:

From a cooling and noise standpoint- there're better case designs that use 120mm fans. The 120mm's have a lower fan noise frequency than those multiple 92 and 80mm fans that one comes equiped with. Thus, they cool as well or better with less and more tolerable ...

Running a Athlon XP 2500 Mobile at 2.5ghz with temps of 39c idle 43 under full load. Using Artic Silver 5 and ThermalTake Silent Boost (hydrowave bearing) Exhaust case fan, side intake case fan, and 2 frontal intake case fans. All panaflos. All quiet... :thumb:

This 12 dollor optial mouse I bought from the local PC shop. The on my PC works for 5mins then it stops, you unplug it then plug it back in and the process repeats itself. The funny thing is, the one on my parents PC works flawlessly.
