lol, lobo. Just disable the tray icon if you don't like it. It uses just as much ram as any other anti-spyware program, I'm sure.

I still like Spybot Search & Destroy better than AdAware, tho, because their program is designed better and they release updates to the spyware definitions much more ...

Hi. I need some cablenut settings for my Comcast 1800/128 connection (yep, its 1800 -- not 1500 contrary to popular belief). I'm using Windows 2000 with 512MB of SDRAM and a 1.4GHz P4 processor.

SG Analyzer results are as follows:

I believe that Internet Explorer identifies itself as Mozilla 4.0 compatible because back when Netscape, based on the Mozilla rendering engine, was the dominating browser among web surfers, Microsoft wanted to trick netscape-only sites into thinking that IE was netscape, thereby letting IE users ...

I dont think there is a tweak for that. The same thing used to happen to me when I had Windows Millennium.. IE would stop loading stuff for a few moments, then continue loading. I have no idea why, but it doesnt seem to happen now that I have XP.

From what I have gathered in comcast forums on various sites, Comcast may slowly continue to raise the caps as they get the bugs out of their new network (it used to be part of @home, which had much higher caps), so the current caps might not stick for long.

They have OOL in every town in my area ...

I apolegize for not replying sooner. Your settings are look fine (I thought maybe your RWIN was very high).

Try powering off your computer and modem for 2 minutes. Then turn the modem on and let it sync, then turn on your computer. This should make a fresh connection to your ISP. Run another test ...

Optimum Online

Judging by his name and location, I think he has Optimum Online -- the best cable ISP in my opinion. Their customers get 8MB/s and up for only about $25/month.... the next town over from me has it and here I am stuck with Comcast paying about twice as much for speeds 1/5th of that :o

Website is not pingable.

err... the site is reporting 100% losses because their server does not allow pings.

Try pinging http://www.optonline.com instead :) :)

In dos, you would type "Ping http://www.optonline.com -l 1460 -n 20" minus the quotes, ofcourse.

The website or ip you used seems to be a very slow host. When I pinged it, I averaged 162ms -- I usually average 20-25ms. Try using another site such as speed guide or optonline.net .

2. Change your RWIN to 37752

If you don't use PPPoE, please ...

1.5 is slow compared to what users of many other cable ISPs get. Those caps almost make it a better idea to get DSL.

That's probably not a good example, but how can comcast justify raising ...

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920

Your RWIN is probably a little too high, but it might be ok. Go to http://www.dslreports.com/tweak and run the tweak test. Look at the middle column and see if there was packet loss, which I suspect there will be. Also, do you mean K/sec or kbps?

The easiest way to do it is to go to Start > Run and type "Scanreg /restore" . Your tweaks will be removed, and your settings will go back to the win98 defaults.

Using cablenut's remove feature will only delete cablenut tweaks and changes you have made with that program.

It will work with XP, and it won't conflict with SG Optimizer beta, I don't think.

It is possible, however, that cablenut will overwrite your SG Optimizer settings if you open up cablenut analyzer after applying tweaks through SG Optimizer.
