Re: Large disparity between download and upload SMB transfer speeds
Well, I got the new NIC installed. Looks like the driver conflict was the issue. I feel like I should be smoking a cigarette or something. I did have another question, though. The NAS only has a few Jumbo Frames options, thei largest being 9000. The NIC has 9014 and 9614. Is best practive to set the ...

Re: Large disparity between download and upload SMB transfer speeds
Hi, Philip!
Yeah, Jumbo Frames is on on both ends. The NAS is pretty simplistic with regard to network settings so there aren't any Green Ethernet or power saving settings in in that regard. If I hoook up my laptop with a USB 2.5GbE adapter it just pegs at just under the line speed (~2.2Gbps) NAS ...

Large disparity between download and upload SMB transfer speeds
Hello!
Recently upgraded the LAN to >1GbE. Having a bizzarre disparity between transfers between my main system and the NAS (both connected through a switch with 10GbE links). I can elaborate on the network items if necessary.

Re: Opinions on the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem?
Got it, thank you, sir!
As I mentioned, I am very happy with it thus far. It has some nice features like IDS/IPS, ad blocking, VPN server/client, plus a boatload of things I haven't messed with yet. Probably a bit overkill for my needs but its ability to tie together its other products like ...

First time being "put under" tomorrow (it's not a big deal). A bit nervous.
Hello, all! Just thought I'd stop by for a sec. I do miss the days of yore, BTW. Spare time has become increasingly hard to come by. Immy's arse picture is still emblazoned in my mind.
Anyway, having a kidney stone laser blasted out tomorrow (so, not a life threatening deal). Will be out for the ...

Depends on where I am in my route (91 octane is ~$4.80/gal at stations along a major street and next to a freeway). Like BaLa, I live <5 miles from work so to be honest I don't really scrutinize what I'm paying as I have no choice. Getting all worked up won't make my day any more pleasant. May as ...

^^ I feel your pain. Our Cadillac gets about 9-11mpg around town. I think my combined mileage comes in around 14-15mpg. But that is due to only about 30% of my driving being on the freeway. The funny thing is if I do a Vegas run where 98% of the driving is freeway driving I can get 27 mpg out of ...

5L V8... But it is rated at 16 city / 25 hwy mpg. I imagine it can't even warm up in the first couple of miles, that's why your mileage is so low.
Oh, for sure. There's about 10 stoplights between home and work, which explains the ~13mph average speed. If my priority was economy I would have went ...

Oh, forgot to add the only real dislike for my car.
The mileage.
I average about 10.5mpg. I live ~3 miles from work so there's no freeway driving. Car says my average speed is ~13mph. So, the fuel economy makes sense. I don't even want to know what I would get running an entire tank in Sport+ mode ...

2nd SSD for page file?
Heya, all!
Couple weeks ago my main system died after ~6 years.
Built a new system (X399 chipset) and was wondering in a SSD environment, if having a separate physical drive for the swap/page file would be of any benefit? I would assume all the M.2 slots run on the same controller but using the ...

(Amazon) I can't quite put my finger on it, but something's not right here
Was looking for a cheap/basic soldering station a couple days ago. Have been thinking about just buying one so I can write a review about how the product is not as pictured... or a review of how it matches the picture but does not include the soldering iron, or any of the other stuff. That ASIN in ...

Dual boot with external USB on UEFI system
Howdy all. It's been a few years since I monkeyed with multi-boot systems. Seemed a lot more straightforward when doing it with a BIOS/MBR setup. What I am looking to accomplish is a dual-boot (Win10/Win10) system with the 2nd install being on an external USB HDD/flash drive. The reason for this is ...

Amazon Prime no longer 2 day shipping?
Past few orders I've made wound up not having the free 2 day shipping as an option on all items. At first I thought it was just me not paying attention, but I have discovered that my process of "filter items by Amazon Prime to see what I can get in 2 days" is now broken, meaning I have to spend time ...

Retiring current router (RT-N66U). Suggestions on replacement?
Heya, guys.
As title states, my home router is in need of replacement. Got a couple good years out of it.
To be frank, I don't really care about the wifi side of things. I can add APs or bridges to suit the need so long as the router itself is competent. The reason I ask is a computer directly ...

IIRC 21:9 is or at least was also a film/movie aspect ratio so you could conceivably watch movies without them being "letterboxed". Aside from that, like Philip said your game would need to directly support that resolution or be able to run in windowed mode or else the results may be unpredictable ...
