My ISP raised the speeds to 9 Megabit down, 1 Megabit up. Not bad for $29.99 per month. Gotta love Canada for the technological leaps over the US ;)

Btw, fresh install of Windows XP, no tweaking, I am at 95.4% of cap. I have spent the last three years of my life tweaking, nothing helped. XP is ...

It's funny you should mention the signal levels. They have to come over and adjust them with the delivery of my new modem. Btw, that's $45 Canadian. Gotta love Canada for their technological maturity.

I tried this tweak and tested it by downloading a large file and using the analyzer at the same time. By putting a load on the connection, my latency increased. My download speeds decreased on the two test files, AOL and Optonline. My surfing, however, has increased very slightly. I use to have large RWIN, so with download sites with little packet loss, I was downloading about 530 Kilobytes/sec. Now I am below 100 KBs. Question, if the TCP window size is ...

Listen folks. Be happy with what you got. Tweaking has lead to format c: as I have done in the last 5 years. Basically your ISP deterrmines your Internet speeds, so spend your time tweaking something else.

PS. Hey Lobo, what happened to Marlin??

Well I just deleted TCP/IP in network protocals and now I cannot ping. Since packet loss is not determined by TCP/IP settings, it doesn't matter how packet loss is checked, as it is determined by external factors such as loose wires, bad signal/noise ratio, bad modem, loose NIC card, old drivers ...

That's not correct, as a retransmission will fix the initial packet loss. The best way to check for packet loss is to ping your gateway node and/or your ISP for ten minutes with large amounts of bytes in each packet. You can only control packet loss between your NIC and your gateway, after that, you ...
