I have the 75/35 plan with Verizon and on Windows or linux the speeds are the same but I find the speed results from this site tend to be much lower than speedtest.net or verizon's site.On those I get 82 down and 39 up mostly.Here I think they were about the same as the original poster.

I've now upgraded to 75/35 and the speeds seems to run the same at 1492 and 1500 MTU so I don't know.Not even sure what the M1424WR router is set to inside.I can't get in to check but to answer why XP? I do not have a windows 7 disc anymore.It Got lost while moving .

I have improved speeds with the tcp optimizer greatly on win xp but I'm not sure what to set the MTU at? 1500 or 1492 or? Thanks in advance!

I will agree here.I think MSE has taken the top spot for free antivirus/antisyware.In fact I use it rather than pay for something these days.I switched over from Avast free and before that I used AVG ...

I have a very slow 600k/300k dsl connection here in Brazil.I used the tcp optimizer on Windows 7 Home Basic 64bit and chose optimal settings and rebooted.Here are my results.Am I in the ballpark? Thanks in advance :) .

Well,just changing the MTU to 1492 got me almost the same exact speed as on a tweaked Windows 7 install.I will look into further tweaking for Ubuntu 10.10.Thanks again.

Now how about my Ubuntu install?

In Brazil I am 4,700 miles away from my hometown New York city.
Most of the servers I frequent are in the United States.Obviously my ping is over 200 most of the time.How can I tweak my connection to these locations in the continental United States?

The new TCP Optimizer says Windows 7 compatable but before that the SG patch was the only thing we could use for Windows 7.
Now Do I still need to install the SG patch or is the TCP Optimizer taking care of the things the SG patch did as well or should I use both?

Hello everyone!
Before using windows 7 I would use the automatic optimal settings for my provisioned speed.Does the TCP optimizer now do everything for win 7 or is there more to it than that?
