thanks for all your suggestions guys but i have been informed by a garage that they suspect that it is the ecm unit malfunctioning,could not tell me much about it but said it would probably cost around £850 to get it sorted.
still unsure what a ecm unit is or does,any light on the situation would be ...

have tried jumping it and have even bought a new battery but to no avail

i have a citroen synergie and it wont go,i am hoping somebody on here can tell me what the little black 12v box is on the left hand side of engine has you look at it,i think it may be the reason it wont start.
when i turn on the ignition it clicks quite rapidly and i think it may be something to do ...
