My ping was 80-200ms in game. Last five days or so, it's went up to 500ms+

I contacted my ISP provider, they said it looked good on their end.

While 9.8 is technically out of spec for an install its fine for the modem, and all he needs is a 3db attenuator on the back of it to put you at 6.8 and 49 so I'm not sure what he was trying to say...

Your PCs are failing to obtain an IP address from your DHCP service...which is your routers internal interface. The issue is either your router, and/or your computers.

My ISP said they have narrowed down all the errors to 1 link and they are gonna upgrade it today. My question is: What do they mean by link?

This will test your connection to your modem, then to the first hop on your cable plant.

I've noticed my wireless connection (speedbooster technology) AKA my wireless computer downstairs, can get 173-5KBytes/sec most of the time. I turn the computer off and the connection upstairs (wired and not speedbooster) is still "slow".

Well every router isnt the same, if your a gamer or torrent alot the Dlink Gamerlounge models are probably the best.


Given the technical knowledge of this poster, they will all be the same, I have yet to see a game that needs wireless N support. Most games don't make full use of the 4Mb ...

Actually it can, he really means firmware and not modem config file, there is a comcast version of the dcm 202's regular firmware, basically it seems to just cripple the modem, from what I've read once you swtich to the comcast firmware theres no reverting back to another as it disables the telnet ...
