Known issue with several cable systems including comcast, where I work.
The modem is docsis 1.0, you need 1.1/2.0 IIRC.
PS Charter is slowly selling off their footprints, so maybe you'll get a new provider soon. :)

I personally have had no bad experiences when changing TCP settings, but there were some cases from other members who had, usually due to using the wrong MTU value or that their ISP does not accept the tweak value for Default ToS value.

My ISP said they have narrowed down all the errors to 1 link and they are gonna upgrade it today. My question is: What do they mean by link?

Ok so 2 techs came down and tested everything. they both said the modem is working perfectly and they pin pointed the router as being the problem. Its a lynksys wrt54g v8 router. without the router plugged in everything works fine. so basically i upgraded the firmware on the router but to no luck ...

Actually it can, he really means firmware and not modem config file, there is a comcast version of the dcm 202's regular firmware, basically it seems to just cripple the modem, from what I've read once you swtich to the comcast firmware theres no reverting back to another as it disables the telnet ...
