Monitor traffic on network from each IP
We recently started having an issue with high utilization at certain times of day. We have remote users that come in from time to time and I suspect someone is doing things they shouldn't be. Up to this point we have only used bandwidth monitor tools that show graphs of usage by the hour, day and ...

Can't seem to get one of our switches working. We moved out IT closet and bought a new cabinet but did not move all the cabling. So we have 2 available data jacks in the office so we plug a cable into the wall then to the switch. None of the ports we've used light up. Gigabit port doesn't light up ...

I'm at a complete loss yet again. Sharepoint 2003 on Windows 2003 server. Restarted the server and now that it is back up can't connect to our intranet, get unauthorized errors. Can't ping the server, can't RDP to server. But, from the server I can ping, get to the internet and everything seems ...

Had a server crash that worked as secondary DNS and also hosted 2 hyper-v servers. Databases were saved by had to reinstall windows and apps then restore databases. One was our helpdesk and since the crash we can no longer access the site by help.mydoamin.com. We can see the site by IP.

We've been using a managed VPN services with Verizon on our network and it provides a portal to create users and manage permissions for them. I'm thinking I'd rather host it internally as we plan to move away from Verizon as an MPLS provider.

Testing switch ports
I have a few offices that seem to be having issues with connectivity. Is there a way I can actually monitor or test the ports on the cisco switches? I'm wondering if the switches are starting to go. They have not been replaced in may years. Many of them in basements with no network cabinets. This is ...

To Netbios or Not to Netbios
I realize that Netbios is basically old technology so I'm wondering at what point can I, or should I phase it out. My concern is we still have a majority of Windows XP systems in our network and probably will for some time. If my understanding is correct I should keep Netbios in play.

I'm looking for a tool that will give me a list of all workstations it scans and finds with the hardware/software report and also ability to telnet, remote restart and things like that. I've seen a variation of tools that do some of this but not all. There must be an all in one app for this ...

Deploying a handful of workstations
I'm looking for best practice, easiest method to deploy more than one machine without having to manually configure each one.
I've configured 1 machine exactly as i'd like all of them to be. Now I need to know how to image this drive so that I can successfully deploy it to the other machines.

Looks like the 2000 Server holds all the FSMO roles. Both servers though have a check for global catalog server. So i'm guessing just using the change option will simplify moving the roles to the 2003 box. Then i can remove the 2000 box and add the 2008 server into place and move the roles from 2003?

We have an old 2000 Server as a DC as well as a 2003 Server as a DC. We are replacing the 2000 Server with a 2008 server. I understand you can not move from 2000 to 2008.
I guess my question is how do I determine which is the primary DC, I believe the 2000 Server is but in AD it doesn't say, it ...

With Verizon Fios coming into my house I was thinking what advantages would I have by running all fiber or at least some fiber to my PCs. I had a program years ago that would allow me to plug in an IP address and it would give me detailed information about the IP Address location, ports running, O/S installed and other useful inventory information. I can't remember what it is called and can't seem to find anything that does this.

In our office we use Symantec Endpoint Protection and it is updated but still does not protect any of our computers from Vista Anti Spyware 2010 or the other variants of this virus/trojan.
What protection is available that is stopping this from installing on systems?
