Recommend a good gaming laptop?

Looking to keep the price in the $1000-$1200 range. What would be the best laptop as far as gaming goes? Stuff that would be able to handle games in the same class as say, quake 4 or half life 2.

Thanks!

Are they that devoid of imagination that they resort to using an American cultural icon? I guess the reality of the situation is that using a turbin clad, AK-47 carrying Mullah on a kids show would be too scary...

I've got an AMD 3800+ 64 processor, maybe it's time to upgrade again ;) Anywho, I appreciate the input. I'll have to take a look at this program and see if there's a method of doing batch conversions...maybe copying the .vob files over to the hard drive, and then converting them straight on the ...

Just seems like a PITA when I want to convert over about 20 or so movies from dvds I've got...it's gonna take several days of running these through...just converted the extended edition of Narnia and it took 2 and a half hours. It's not a huge deal - the quality I get now is good, just looking for a ...

Converting dvds to mp4 for iPod use (a question)

I've got a program (dvdfab) that allows me to convert movies over to mp4 format for use on my video ipod, but it takes on the order of an hour and a half to two hours per movie to convert. My question is this: Is there a better program out there that will convert movies over more quickly?

Another route you might consider is an external HD. Might be a bit more money up front, but they do come in handy. :)

I'd second that. I've got two external drives that have come in very handy when moving music/video/data files between my old computer and my new computer. You can get external ...

Looking for a recommendation on a good HDTV tuner card

Any suggestions? I'm looking for something that will allow me to pull in over the air signals, as well as time shift programming.

I've ran into similar issues myself, and it seems to be with newer discs. I've been using dvdecrypter to rip the disc to the hard drive, then use dvd shrink to compress the files. This seems to work most of the time.

HD DVD players

A quick question - are there any internal HD DVD drives that are players only? I don't have the money currently needed to purchase a HD DVD recorder and want to know if I can just install a player into my computer.

I hadn't really planned on overclocking the machine, so that's not really an issue for me. So I should be good there. Any recommendations tho on a good brand of memory to look at?

Mixing and matching memory

Hi all, a friend recommended this site to me and I thought I'd throw this question out to you. I've got a computer set up currently with 1gig of pc3200 memory, but would like to soon expand it to two gig. The question is, can I mix and match brands of memory, as long as the other stick I get is also ...
