YIKES!
The power went off last night and here comes the same problem again. This time, the DHCP server seems to have not come back up, or there is something wrong on my end. It has been almost 24 hours. How do I remove the TCP IP stack? How do I add it back in? I dont think I have the RR software ...

Lobo, what i mean is he has to click on links to get to the download site of IE, but his whole problem is that when he clicks on a link he gets a blank page.

are you pinging the company's website or what? Because you might only be a few hops from your friend while you might have to go through several hubs and such to get to your cable company's website.

my idea is someone needs to tell him the exact ftp address of IE so he can enter it in without having to click a link. Unfortunately, I myself am too lazy to do such a thing, Sorry, I've had a long day ;)

He has a hub and the hub is assigning him the same IP address for both computers. If you want to keep the hub, then purchase another IP from @home. Otherwise, buy a router.

when you say 300-400 do you mean kilobits or KiloBYTES...if you are talking KILOBYTES I there is definately not a lack of speed.

I have talked to many people on newsgroups that say that they are in my area and have been experiencing absoloutely no packet loss, and when they ping me they don't lose any. So at this point I have been holding for tech support for atleast 3 hours.

WOOHOO! I think the RR DHCP server was down or something because I just went to sleep thinking I would fix it once everyone replied, but when I turned it on this morning, everything was back to normal.

I don't know what i clicked but i did something bad in winipcfg and now when I click my Ethernet card it says:
IP Autoconfiguration Address 169.254.242.230
Normally it doesnt say this. I tried releasing, renewing, all,(this ends up in a system not responding or error already released) etc. even ...

I have done that many times Storm90, but thanks anyways for the suggestion...btw right now i am surfing at a blazing fast 235 kbps...at this rate the coyote wouldve caught up with the roadrunner five pages back and whooped his ass.

Well what he did was took out his needle nose plyers and just pinched on the cable and pulled as hard as he could and eventually the cable came out and he connected it to the outlet. do you conside that sloppy?

Well at first when they came to install it the cable outlet didn't even carry a line, but then they cut it and pulled it so they hooked up the cable line to the outlet, do you think this could be it?>
