Logfiles have a lot of similarities with OpenVPN logfiles - it's open source so the cost of building this could have been really low. Several components of OPenVPN are BSD-style (vs GPL) which doesn't require provding the sourcecode (among other things).

You can drop $1000-2 for a pre-built media center box. If you want HD be very careful when looking at their a/v options.

Use DVD shrink (or DVDDecrypter) to rip VOB. You can then use Vision to add each movie as a separate title.

Vision is probably the most simple app for doing this - you may be in trouble...

Don't rip to avi first unless you have to - transcoding affects quality.

As for the 'are you sure' clicks, I doubt this, but it would depend on how the page was written - you don't get alert boxes twice on teh same event.
