Just updated my cable modem today to a Motorola SB6120 and I re-ran the analyzer test and it said that the "check bit" is incorrect. Can someone please check it out and tell me what changes in TCPOptimizer I need to make. Thanks.

Trogers....leaving the TCP Receive Window BLANK seems to cause slower loading pages. Did you have a chance to check out the latest TCP analyzer I posted w/ your settings (post #9)?

Also what is the correct settings for these 2:

ToS: DefaultTOSValue: 0 or 80?

Windows Scaling: Checked or Unchecked ...

Post a new TCP Analyzer report after rebooting the comp to see if MTU goes up to 1500.

Didn't my last TCP Analyzer results show the MTU already @ 1500? Unless I'm seeing and reading something different here.

Also I didn't see the value for "LAN Request Buffer Size" in your settings above.......I ...

Hi trogers. Thanks for your prompt reply. They only change I had to make from my current TCPoptimizer settings and yours listed above is the TCP Receive Window . It seems that page loading is a little "choppier" than before. Test results below.

Settings needed for AT&T DSL 3008 down/512 up

OS: XP Pro
Modem: Speedstream 4100
DSL: AT&T 'Dry-Loop' PRO (3008 Kbps DOWN/512 Kbps UP)

Currently getting between 2.45-2.55 Mbps DOWN and around 0.41 Mbps UP.

Is this normal down and up speeds for this type of DSL connection?

Thaks for your reply optikal. Unfortunately my pc is a dinosaur and it doesn't have a slot for network cards (only video cards). So I'm pretty much stuck with the built-in NIC.

So 'auto-negotiation' and '100m/full' deliver the SAME results?

My guess is that MTU is limited by your modem & router !

Netgear support told me that the 40 byte difference is probably header data.

Also when I run the analyzer tests, I get the following message under MTU:

"MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for ...

I just upgraded my DSL from 1.5 Mb/s to 3.0 Mb/s (to be completed in a couple of days).

I'm assuming that I'm going to need NEW TCPOtimizer settings. However when I run the analyzer test again.....should I do it with my current configuration (modem + router) or just connected directly to the modem ...

Page rendering seems a little better than before, but maybe it's the "placebo effect" on my end, LOL.

Hi. When I connect directly to my modem (no router) and run the analyzer test.....my MTU value is 1492 and MSS is 1452.

if u re using cfosspeed(whatever) i think that u dont have to put in the optimizer the TOS values because that program changes the TOS "on air"
otherwise u can just put the exacts values that mcoffee gaves u (I mean exactly), get a speed test and if u are not "happy" with the results, post here an ...

RWIN is the same setting as the TCP Optimizer's "TCP Receive Window"... If the current value in the Optimizer is 128480, and the Analyzer is reading the correct IP address (yours, rather than some proxy server) it should be the same number in the Analyzer...

You're using RWIN of 96096.... Just as it says... the RWIN (Max TCP Receive Window) is optimal when multiple of MSS. However, TCP headers support a single 16 bit (up to 65535) value (refered to as Unscaled RWIN by the Analyzer), and the way TCP uses larger RWIN is by multiplying the unscaled RWIN ...
