The problem was apparently due to insecure Microsoft SQL servers scanning people on the internet via port 1434.

As far as people can tell , Optusnet doesn't have a download speed cap (it still has a 128k upstream speed cap).

If your upstream 128k is being saturated, your downloads can be limited in speed.

Get something like DUmeter and find out.

I'm on Telstra cable and I get approx the same speeds (eg ...

I got so pissed off at my old mouse and computer (some no name brand AMD computer)... i took the mouse outside, started spinning it around on the cord and smashed it up : :mad:

Then i went and bought a nice toshiba laptop to replace the silly AMD PC :) I can never be mad at this sweet little ...

I dont know about the Monaro - but its "hotted up" cousin (the HSV Coupe) does the 400m (quarter mile) in 13.3 seconds and 0-100Km/hour (0-60mph) in 5.1 seconds.
