Think about it for a second. If you access a webpage, ftp server, etc. how will the server know where to send the packets back to for you to receive them. Knowledge of someone's IP (who you connect with) is inherent in the architecture of the Internet and is no threat at its face. The addresses 192 ...

Could be apps. Try Netscape, IE and maybe an FTP client with both numbered and named addresses. Incidentally I found that running your own DNS server internally can make your connection a bit faster sometimes. It also saves the hassle of overloaded DNS servers from the ISP and makes it not quite so ...

Do you....
have separate IPs from your ISP for all there machines? If so they go cable -> hub -> 3 machines. Otherwise if you are trying to use NAT as I suspect then make sure it is setup correctly on the 2k machine. 169.x.x.x is an auto assignment from Windows on that SAME machine. That is a Windows machine ...

packetfilter
If you're not running any servers... (this includes ident) just block all incoming requests using whatever filter your kernel version supports... if you wanna run sshd or a web server or something just leave those services only open and make sure you take strong auth measures for them.

These are all nice replies but they dont fix it... (no offence)
