Just replaced my four year old modem only with a Westell 2200-15 Router/Modem from Verizon. I'm new to routers and don't understand the terminology used. Two questions:

2. The other configuration I've seen mentioned is ...

Westel 2200-15 Modem (Router?)
Just replaced my dying B90 Westell with their 2200-15 Verizon version on my home computer. No network or any other computers in the system.
Is there any advantage to setting it up as a router if it's used on a stand alone computer?
If yes, how do I set it up as a router?

I'm using Diskeeper 7 on Win XP Pro. You can set it to run continuously in the background. Doesn't seem to steal much in the way of resources.

Microsoft Answer to WIN XP MTU Question
Don't I feel silly. That'll teach me to go to Speedguides first. Shoulda known it starts here.
Now I'm doubly sure there isn't an MTU key in XP.
Thanks for not rubbing it in too much.

MTU 1500 in Win XP 2600
To Lobo
I don't have 2600. I mistakenly used the original Post Subject "XP2600: are my settings, etc".
I have 2542. Signed up with MS for the RC1 evaluation CD. Downloaded RC2 form MS.
I have the same question about 2600. Where do people get it. Is it legal?

Where in the Win XP registry were you able to set the MTU to 1500? I haven't been able to change anything.

SG TCP/IP Analyzer & Win XP
I've confirmed my registry for MTU is 1492 but SG TCP/IP Analyzer & Win XP says 1480. Using XP's native PPPoE on Verizon 640/90 DSL
TCP options string = 020405a00103030001010402
MTU = 1480
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

Where are Rwin & MTU Keys in Win XP
SG TCP/IP Analyzer tells me to set my MTU to 1500 and change the Rwin to a multiple of MSS. Win XP is new for me. Where are the keys?

Trying to finish install of BEFSR41 but just can't get to setup. Cabling is correct - network properties are correct -LEDs indicate everything OK - but http://192.168.1.1 or just 192.168.1.1 just won't open the setup. Spoke to Linksys - not much help - talked me through everything they could think ...
