Hi,

I have a program called "Hmonitor and it reads the following:

mainboard: 24.1 C
CPU1: 34.8 C
CPU2: 46.9 C

My voltages are as follows:

+12V= +12.48V
+5V= +4.93V
Core= 1.79V
I/O= 3.44V

This was all while my computer was just idling.

Are these bad? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok,

I checked the pci slot #1, and it is empty. I don't think anything is overheating. Do you know where I can buy those fans that you put in the slot? I'm not exactly sure on how to run the ram in a different CAS. Can you guide me on how to do that? Thanks again for the help so far. More ...

Yes -- I have updated the 4 in 1's. I'll have to look into the heat problem, although I never have had one. I will check the first pci slot card thing along with the cas 2 ram and post tommorow. Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I was using a windows 98 start up disk. I installed windows 98 for temporary use but, I will download that XP bootdisk and to see if that works. Thanks for everyone's help.

I decided to make a boot disk and fdisk/format since i couldn't figure out how to get to that recovery mode thing. Yes, I was running a dual boot...98 and xp. What is the recovery console? I tried going into safe mode and i think every option that was in the boot options menu. No matter which one i went to, still got that blue screen with the chkdsk /f before anything loaded up. Thanks.

I didn't see any smoke but, that burning smell was the same as when it was on fire. I powered on my computer again and its working right now. I lowered my mhz to 1.1ghz instead of 1.4. I dont know why, just thought it might help. Thanks.

I opened the case back up, turned the computer on, and i searched for the soure... i could see a flame inside the power supply! What can cause this to occur and how can i prevent this from happening again? I have to wait until friday now to return this power supply and get a new one. :(

I just wanted to let everyone know that i believe the problem is solved. I replaced the 300W p.s.u. with a 450W p.s.u. and it hasn't restarted randomly again. Thanks to all that helped.
