ZyXEL Communications, a leading provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products, today introduced the WRE2205 802.11n wireless range extender. The device plugs into any electrical outlet and boosts a network's wireless signal to extend coverage throughout the home and backyard.

ZyXEL WRE2205 provides transfer rates of up to 300Mbps and is backward compatible with 802.11b/g. Seamless extensions allow users to enjoy video streaming, online gaming and Internet browsing on fixed and mobile-networked devices anywhere in the home.

The device is palm-sized and unobtrusive, eliminating the need for messy wires or unattractive devices to provide whole-home coverage. ZyXEL's easy setup wizard and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button allows users to activate the Range Extenders with ample security instantly. LED signal strength indicators on the panel help users easily identify the best location for optimal Wi-Fi coverage.

ZyXEL has made the wireless range extender "green," providing the unit with a power switch so it can be powered down when not in use, to save electricity and reduce energy consumption.
