YouTube makes live stream easier for everyone

YouTube begins rolling out a new feature that will allow users to live stream directly from their browsers without installing any additional software. YouTubers could previously go live from a desktop computer, but the process required additional equipment and software.

For now, the feature is only limited to Chrome browsers, but YouTube says that it will expand to more browsers soon. To get started, visit https://youtube.com/webcam. You'll be prompted to verify your account with a phone number – a process that can take up to 24 hours. Once that's done, just click 'Go Live' in the YouTube site header to start streaming.

In addition to Chrome and other desktop browsers, YouTube is also bringing the feature to smartphones. Owners of select smartphones from Asus, LG, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung will be able to start a live stream directly from the built-in camera app in the coming months, with more vendors set to join in the future.
